Inventory software?
Dylan Brophy wrote 05/09/2024 at 21:54 • 0 pointsI was working on a rather large work project recently, and logistics and keeping track of parts became an issue, since thusfar I never needed a system for this. I did a quick google of "open source inventory software" and some results came up, but I was wondering what folks in the community were already using. I will want to write/add plugins to any software, and I figure any other folks on here would too. Suggestions?
Thank you
UPDATE: I chose inventree, been using it for a few months. Slight learning curve, but it works great :)

I don't have experience with any of these, but you could take a look:

I did try Odoo, the free tier is pretty limited.
I ended up using InvenTree (https://inventree.org/). With Docker it was easy to try locally and then deploy on my server for production use. It's written in Python, so it could easily adapted/extended.

I use PartsDB it works well enough for my needs, it also can interface with distributors APIs(I use digikey and some mouser) to pull in the specs, pics, datasheets from them for you.

Check out Odoo. They have paid enterprise versions, but also free community versions. You can self host and it's open source.

Will do; thank you!

@JulianBnder forwarded me to some discussions on the LumenPnP discord. It seems like people tend to use either InvenTree or partsbox. InvenTree seems more involved as far as setup goes, but you can run it locally and for free. For partsbox I can't tell, but it seems like you can only get it with a $59/year subscription. The other options I stumbled upon online did not at all seem enticing tbh.

I don't have any personal experiences but I know there was a pretty active discussion some time ago in the opulo discord (lumenPnP) if you search the right terms you should be able to find it

I would like to know this also. I have this grande idea to use a scanner and maybe 2d bar codes. A database of some sorts. Even if this doesn't fly off the shelf I think it would be cool to figure something out.
