I made a similar clamp out of beer cans. That is, I cut them up and got flat plates which I used to make a clamp like this.
The material was particularly suitable for this. It was strong, flexible and easy to use.
That was ten years ago, and I still have the scars on my fingers...

Neat! My first thought was that they were built out of Silicone. I wonder if it would behave the same? It'd be great for hot things...

The fingers are made by FESTO. They were 3D printed (SLS), the material is hence polyamide plastic. The rest of the structure is made of PVC and aluminium. Thanks for your interest!

I also wondered what they were made of, because they look like sintered metal but they're not rigid.
