We couldn't accept just "plain old square" shelves, so we decided to build a wall mounted open box with a rounded top.

With the usual items; wood, screws, drill we added a 3d printed top.

This made things more interesting and the structure begins to take shape.

Not everything works out perfectly. A magnetically levitated skateboarding character works--but too complex and jerky for our taste.

Next came the clapping monkey.

This thing was really difficult to tear apart and modify with a servo motor, but here are the details.

Assembly begins.

I'm following my 3d model at this point.

Now there is plywood and a track.

Elmer is added.

In the beginning there was just an idea to replicate and modernize the old fashioned Christmas animated display. My wife, Annelle, and I decided to use her artistic talent and my technical skills to create something for the community.

The project has to be buildable and movable. I started by 3d printing scale size lumber.
