1Step 1
First step is to get some strawberry plants and all the components you need. You can either get them from the store, but I got them directly from my garden.
-
2Step 2
Drill the holes: For these plants you need to drill holes around 12cm in diameter. It depends a bit on your personal preference how you want to drill them, but note that plastic can be rather tough for drilling.
-
3Step 3
Put the pots in the holes. If you have done it correctly, then you have now the basis for your aeroponics system. All you need now is to place it at a sunny position for your plants to have the most light (either by the window or under a light bulb)
-
4Step 4
Fill the container with water, add some liquid fertilizer in there and place the fogger inside. Put the lid on and turn the fogger on (it should now get misty inside your container). If everything is done correctly you should now see fog appearing inside the pots. If not, then you either did not add enough water or the fogger is not producing enough fog.
-
5Step 5
Now its time to place the plants. Softly get them out of the soil and wash their roots thoroughly so that the roots do not contain any traces of soil anymore. Put some clay pebbles in the pots, put the plant in and add some more pebbles to cover the roots of the plants.
-
6Step 6
Now its waiting time. If done correctly, you should see fog slowly going out of the pebbles and the pebbles should have a brownish dark color (and are wet). It might be that the plants feel a bit "sick", this is normal, after a couple of days they should become better than before.
-
7Step 7
Do a regular check every 2-3 days to see if there is enough water in the bucket. The roots of the plant should not touch the water if possible. Try to keep a distance of at least 2-3 cm between the roots and the water.
