Health and Light
07/12/2016 at 13:36 • 0 commentsWhile undertaking some further research on this project, more and more sources are popping up on the effects of light on your health. A particularly interesting read was the BIOLOGICAL EFFECTS OF TINTED LENSES which is an extract from a book called Health and Light by John M. Ott.
In summary: having only pinkish light in your room, or wearing pink tinted lenses can have a negative impact on your life and how you feel. It can make you more aggressive and argumentative. Having full spectrum light (including some UV light) was shown to help you be more healthy and reduce the risk of illness. There were interesting examples of how adding UV light to a work place was surprisingly beneficial. One restaurant where UV lights had been used for many many years, had found that their waiters were consistently happy, and had an astonishing low average number of sick days even in flu seasons.

Sunlight has healing powers
06/19/2016 at 14:21 • 0 commentsWhat is really interesting is that sunlight naturally has the 660nm light in it. Take a look at the distribution of wavelengths in sunlight from the graph below:

Basically this means just going outside and getting some sun can help heal your wounds quicker.
WARNING: Although going out into the sun for healing purposes is good, sunlight also contains harmful UV rays that can burn and damage your skin. Therefore having a device that outputs just 660nm light could be better for you in certain situations.
