A very quick look at where I've got to on this project.
I've got a common ground button PCB.
I removed the cartridge jack from the motherboard, and stuck it on some flying leads. there is an Acrylic adapter that makes it the same as the DMG version.
Screen hole has been embiggened to suit the SP's screen. I'll get a new facia printed at work, hopefully.
Still to do:
Wire buttons. Should be easy, need to work out where the shoulder buttons are going.
Wire and mount Switch, Volume and Link port. And Headphone jack and Speaker.
Work out charging. And Batteries.
Work out how to fit both DMG and Advance cartridges.
Mount Motherboard.
Work out how the case will fix together - some screw holes were removed to fit the screen.
I don't know if I'm a bit late (because the last update it's from 2016...). I'm going to do this mod, but I want to use all GBA functions, and I have some doubts about the project... Did you finish it?
My problems, so far, with the project are:
First, I will need to do something with the GBA/GBC switch, and I was thinking two options: find a way to place the switch, so it will work like a normal GBA, or rewire it into a manual switch and put the correct mode for each game manually. The first option seems to be the best, but the second one the easiest to implement. How did you solve this?
Second, I was thinking too about to use the huge battery hole of the DMG to put a larger battery, so it will last longer. Will I have any problems doing it? I tried to find some information about, but the only things I find are larger batteries, but GBA sized...
Finally, and just because of laziness... Is there ANY way to not de-solder and resolder the carslot? I know I will have to do something to make GBA games fit in the back of the DMG case (did you find a solution to this?). Also, what did you do with the shoulder buttons?
