Obtain a Refrigeration Compressor and controller
04/15/2018 at 17:17 • 0 commentsI searched for a excellent condition mini fridge with a compressor that is plenty new for this project. I found one for $40 bucks. So let the hacking begin !
I will keep the electronics and cut the compressor away from the copper tubing.
I took this pic so I would always have model and tech info for charging refrigerant. I will have a pro do that likely.
More tech papers, Perfecto !

Ideas on " Modes" 4 functions of the robot
04/15/2018 at 17:08 • 0 commentsupdates on progress here, next problem is powering the roomba because i don't have a suitable battery
here are ideas i would like to implement in order of importance:
Mode 1 "stationary" - being it must cool the drinks, monitor temp and open the lid when a hand waves over it. This should require no human interaction at all besides the hand wave trigger.
Mode 2 "stand and deliver" - Robot must remove itself from the base and follow a prescript to a point in the room where it will await for a few seconds for someone to wave their hand triggering the lid to open. once the drinks are retrieved the lid closes and robot returns to a spot in front of the base and triggers roombas docking feature to reconnect
mode 3"come to me" voice command trigger and robot follows heat PIR sensor and stops when it is close enough. when done it stays in place unless is it is told " Go Home" and then roomba home docking is activated
Mode 4 "beer butler" to be determined but i have heard of other drink serving robots that can roam around and serve a party, though it sounds cool this is clearly going to be the least used feature -
Hacking Roomba Part 1 , Get a Ps2 adapter
04/15/2018 at 17:06 • 0 commentsThe Roomba has a PS2 connector , so I will tear one off a mouse.

Get a Roomba for a mobile base
04/15/2018 at 16:58 • 0 commentsThankfully a fellow robot builder saw the project and helped out with a cheap roomba to hack. YAY
Fred was kind enough sell me one of the Roomba's he already screwed a platform too and there is no need for the cleaning portion . This is a Roomba Discovery and they can be hacked through their serial port. Of course this is not a "hack a roomba" project but I will share some important developments.

Failure? Change of Cooling methods Coming
04/15/2018 at 16:40 • 0 commentsThe Peltier did not perform to me needs so I will search for a small mini fridge I can use the compressor from to hack into the robot. I hope everyone follows along with this.

Part 8: Second test, more ventilation for the peltier
04/15/2018 at 16:35 • 0 commentsOk so the project is basically done except the hacking of the Roomba. I am not satisfied with the performance. At best is will only keep things cold that are already refrigerated and may even slowly allow them to warm up. So I will redesign this robot to use a actual compressor from a mini fridge. It will dock on the Roomba base and 110 v will connect to power the compressor only when it is on the dock.
