  I designed a box with a wooden plate and a spring.
  The plate is connected to a wire that routes through the bottom of the box and is attached to the rod of the winding mechanism. The winding mechanism allows you to wind up the wire, compressing the string inside the box, such that the spring absorbs an proportional amount of force. When the winding mechanism is released, the spring will "spring back" to its original form releasing the absorbed energy and launching the projectile. For now the box is hard-designed to be static at 45degrees. The point of this prototype is to develop my intuition of mechanical design, and test the idea of using a spring based launching mechanism.
