For the holiday season a suspended Lego train was installed in the Bookery bookstore in Manchester. As the train will run all day and largely out of reach, a wireless battery charger was installed to keep the train running without need of store personal. An ESP8266/ESP12 was used to operate the motor. A ADS1115 4 channel A to D is used to monitor battery voltage, wireless charger voltage and charging current. At a predetermined operating voltage, the ESP8266 monitors charging current from the wireless charger and when the current is peaked, the motor is stopped. The train remains stopped untill the 2S Li-ion charger has completed the battery charge. The train then resumes operation around the suspended track.

Transmit charging coil is placed on the track and receiving coil is attached under the motor drive unit of the Lego train
Neat! Can you show a picture of how the charger is positioned in relation to the train?
