Malaria, tuberculosis and intestinal parasites are 3 of the top 10 killing diseases in low and middle income areas (LMIA), killing more than 3.000.000 people yearly. However, they can be cured with an easy treatment if people know they need treatment. In isolated communities, lack of diagnosis causes large amounts of preventable deaths.
We are a group of passionate people with a scientific / technical background who believe that Science and technology must help people. With this aim in mind, we started a project in 2017 to improve the life of thousands by creating an open source diagnosis tool. This is how we developed AI Scope, a non-profit, Open-source, smart microscope which uses AI to improve the diagnosis of the most deadly infectious diseases in remote communities.
It consists on a DIY microscope and a ML algorithm running on a cellphone that identifies the parasite/bacteria causing the disease.
We are looking for volunteers to help the project
