So basically, you are abusing the system, lying to them, and claiming probably needed medicine for yourself when they might be getting in short supply. You are not sick, and you might not need these drugs, as you would have simply gotten them from your doctor if they could and thought you needed them.

You are truly a selfish idiot by raiding the supply closet, limiting actually sick people to get the drugs they need.

As it turned out I had symptoms 2 weeks ago, and self-administered for 6 days. My symptoms lessened, and I am alive to tell the tale. I'm in the age bracket for 1.5% mortality amd I would not have got this from my doctor or even if presented at ICU as the UK is still not administering it (at this date). In the UK we are allowed to buy this stuff off prescription and self-administer.  Yes I may be an idiot, but I'm not a dead idiot, so I'll take it on the chin.

To add to the idiocy story: the UK govt banned export of Chloroquine in January see https://www.pharmaceutical-technology.com/comment/parallel-export-covid-19/. However they haven't approved it for COVID treatment (need clinical double-blind trials) and aren't using it, so we have 81% mortality in ICU as of today.  (Belgium is using it, 25% mortality). So if you are quite rich and can afford a Harley Street private doctor, you might be able to get a prescription. For example Prince Charles is  71 and he only has "mild symptoms", what are the chances of that? I am not depriving sick people of Chloroquine, but the UK government is. So who are the idiots?

The trip to Guatemala is the story we tell to the Pharmacist to get Chloroquine. We don't actually have to go! And they don't ask to see the ticket.

+1 though for the G+T!!! We can still get tonic here with some levels of quinine. Maybe the only survivors will be the Gin drinkers....

I did a little research on tonic water as a result of this, and it turns out that you's have a hard time drinking enough to get a therapeutic dose of quinine (therapeutic for malaria, which I assume is about the same for COVID-19 pneumonia; appears to be from the paper you cited). You'd need to chug 6 to 12 liters of commercial tonic water to get there. However, there are readily available "tonic syrups" that the hipsters use to make ironic gin and tonics. Those could help, if they only specified how much quinine they contain. 

You can by cinchona bark powder from Amazon and make your own tonic syrup. Google for recipes; my calculation is that the most common recipe would give you a therapeutic dose at only a liter or so a day. Of course, I am not a doctor and you should not actually try this.

Interesting. I only just heard about chloroquine treatment for COVID-19 for the first time a few days back. I wonder if the plane trip to Guatemala to get the chloroquine is perhaps the riskiest part of this plan though. Might be worth the risk, of course - only you can do that math.

This whole thing makes me think about gin and tonic. Legend has it you Brits invented the drink as a way of getting quinine into people in India and other colonies with malaria problems. Could tonic water have some use in the present situation?
