I grew up programming BBC & Commodore machines (before moving onto mainframes and now phones) and the difference between the two basic implementations always annoyed me. BBC Basic nice and easy to understand, Commodore - a bunch of numbers.

Seeing Lee Davison's ehBasic a couple of years ago inspired me to start learning how to build FPGA systems & 68K assembler so I could try to extend his basic to include simple file handling, graphics, and sound extensions. I've always disliked the pi & Arduino as learning platforms because they are so complicated to get going rather than just switching it on. Seeing kids fall asleep waiting for things to download and bootup in class was so depressing, I am hoping that this system will come with a firmware which you can just switch on and get going. No logins, package manager blah, blah blah.

Fingers crossed and back to the future.
