StimBox

Open Stimulation System for Auditory EEG Experiments Using Python, Raspberry Pi, and HifiBerry

Similar projects worth following
In Neuroscience research on auditory behavioral coupled with EEG experiments, there is a wide variability of stimulation solutions, for both software and hardware that adds unnecessary technical constraints and uncertancies. We design a system composed by a Raspberry Pi coupled with Python programming and associated with a HifiBerry sound card to propose an open-source solution that achieves the high timing accuracy and sound quality important in auditory cognition experiments, while being simple to use and open source.

How to create your own stimulation box, based on this publication : https://www.eneuro.org/content/8/4/ENEURO.0524-20.2021

  • 1 × Raspberry Pi 3 B
  • 1 × Mini SD Card, minimum 16GB (32GB advised)
  • 1 × Hifi Berry DAC + Pro
  • 1 × USB Battery (for example Solo 5, ROMOS)
  • 7 × LED ( 1 start, 1 stop, 5 progression) + associated resistors

  • 2
    Step 2

Download the 'ready to use Raspbian OS' on OSF : https://osf.io/5g4m8
(we recommend using V2 that include fixes)

  • 3
    Step 3

Clone the 'Rpi_RaspbianOS_ReadyToUse_V2.img' from OSF to the mini SD card.

We recommend using 'Win32DiskImager' software on windows.

For linux, you can do :
    sudo dd if=~/Rpi_RaspbianOS_ReadyToUse_V2.img of=PATH_TO_YOUR_MINISD bs=1M conv=fsync status=progress
