Why is this called the Chip Shortage Clock? Because you can't order any ICs from distributors, so you have to make do with what you've got in your parts bin! Turns out I had a few 7-segment displays and AS1115 drivers, so here it is.

I created this simple board, then included as many features as I could think of in a clock, notably, adjustable brightness, auto brightness (dims at night), day of the month display, or arbitrary number display. The base station sends it outside temperature, so the clock also serves as a "mini" weather station.

The 3D print isn't great, but isn't quite as bad as in the pictures. I might try my hand at woodworking at some point :-)

Like all other projects here, this automatically associates and joins a private area network using the 802.15.4 protocol.
