Long story short, we thought this device should exist: an entirely open source (device schematics, firmware, and mobile app software!), pocket sized heads up display which references an age old trinket - the monocle!

Camera equipped heads up devices are all so clunky and expensive so we thought it would be useful to do something really different.  The optics double as a mechanical enclosure to house the electronics and everything pairs wirelessly via BLE to…. Whatever you want!

Our objective with Monocle is to empower all of us to hack, learn, and tinker with the building blocks of the coming leap in personal computing: augmented reality.  Why? Because technology and our relationship with it is becoming too vital to leave solely in the hands of a few of corporations.
