I intend to provide a stand-alone, open-hardware / open-software board for driving tri-colour common anode LED strips with audio frequency amplitudes.
Although the current WS2812B addressable strips would open more opportunities, the price per meter is nearly 5 times that of a 5050 SMD strip.
The hardware design is nearly complete, apart from my grand wisdom in designing the ISP header backwards. Software design is proving to be more fun than I had anticipated.
Given that I've named the project Ambuino, the design is currently reliant on the Arduino platform. However, with that, there is always the option to go full AVR, or even PIC.
