Initial version of the A030.
I've used a lot of ideas from others to design this board.
Board features:
- MC68030
- MC68882
- 2MB SRAM 32 bit data bus
- 512Kb EEPROM 8 bit data bus
- 512kB EEPROM 16 bit data bus
- 2x FPGA EPM7192
- FPGA1 handles
- emulate TMS203 logic
- chips selects
- interrupts
- FPGA2 handles
- DRAM controller
- QMTECH Cyclone IV EP4CGX150 interface
- IDE bus
- FPGA1 handles
- MC68901 MPQ
- MC68681 UART
- TP3465V SPI interface
- DRAM 2 slots
- Socket for a QM-TECH Cyclone IV EP4CGX150
- IDE interface
- Mictor connectors for TLA P6434 probes
- connection pads for TLA P6860 probes
My main interest of the board is to study the MC68030 bus cycles using a Tektronix TLA7016. With the TMS203 Support Package for the 68030 allows me to analyze what happens on the 68030 bus.
The second idea is that I always wanted to make a coprocessor for the MC68020/030 CPU. For this I've added the Cyclone IV board.
And learning some serious VHDL programming using the Quartus tooling.
And of course primary doing a lot of software and hardware debugging.
The board will be running either OS-9/M68k or a Linux version.
The PCB is a 6 layer board. I designed it using Fusion 360/Eagle. Initially it was a 4 layer board but after watching some interesting videos about ground planes and signal returns I added to additional layers.
Currently the board is under production.
