1Step 1
Step 1 - 3D Printing
3D print the 1/8" or 1/4" design based on the type of tubing you'll be using. We used the following settings on our 3D printer:
1/8" Settings -
Material - PLA
Nozzle Temperature - 200C
Hotbed Temperature - 60C
Nozzle Diameter - .2mm
Layer Height - .1mm
Infill - 25%
Print Speed - 90mm/s1/4" Settings -
Material - PLA
Nozzle Temperature - 200C
Hotbed Temperature - 60C
Nozzle Diameter - .4mm
Layer Height - .2mm
Infill - 25%
Print Speed - 90mm/s -
2Step 2
Step 2 - Break in the Gearing
Initially due to the nature of 3D printing the design will be locked tightly together, insert a 7.75mm hex bit into a power drill and run it for several minutes to wear in the gearing.
-
3Step 3
Step 3 - Insert the Tygon Tubing
Move the gears by hand until one of the holes is exposed pull a good length of tubing through that hole, then slowly turn the gears by hand while feeding the tubing down along the track. Once you get to the other side, push the end of the tubing through the hole and pull the excess length out of the pump.

4Step 4
Step 4 - Install the Solarbotics Gear Motor 23 and the Motor Drive Gear
Insert the GM23 into the pump housing, place the cover over it and secure the cover using the 3 1/2" 2-56 screws. Push the drive gear onto the shaft of the motor, it should fit snugly and require a bit of force to attach.
-
5Step 5
Step 5 - Attach Pump Drive Gear
Apply some epoxy or super glue to one end of the drive shaft, and then press it into the large pump gear, do the same thing for the center gear in the pump housing. Make sure that the large pump gear is inline with the motor drive gear. Let the epoxy/glue dry.

6Step 6
Step 6 - Admire your 3D printed peristaltic pump!
Congradulations, your pump is now complete and ready to be used! Simply attach some wires to the motor (maybe a small 100uF ceramic capacitor between the leads as well) and hook it up to your motor driver and you're ready to pump fluids around!
