Nearing the End

Team EverySwerve completed our hardest push yet to finish the final assembly and validation of the EverySwerve bot. This push included dynamic tests like the 20ft sprint, 90-degree turn + 5ft sprint, and obstacle traversal; as well as our two assembly (Design Team and Student Team) and affordability (BOM Review) validation. 

 

EverySwerve Validation 

With the completion of validation, Team EverySwerve was very impressed with the dynamic performance of the EverySwerve bot. In terms of speed alone, the bot far exceeded our performance expectations (See Figure 1); largely due to the rewinding of the hub motors.

Our final Bill of Materials also fell within our goal of under $3000, arriving at a Materials + Manufacturing cost of approximately $2955.66 (See Table 1).

With every success, there are elements that can be improved upon. One of them being the ease of wiring within each module. While both of our assembly validations fell within the allotted 8-hour time frame, our initial yoke design proved difficult to wire due to the small space initially machined (See Figure 2). Our hope is that future iterations would include a larger machined out space allowing for more comfortable assembly.

Our Final Steps 

Team EverySwerve will continue to squash programming bugs affecting the performance of the overall device, with the hopes of completing some dynamic tests with even better results. These bugs largely affect the accuracy of control, rather than the performance of device itself.  

 

The Final Device presentations will also be held in the coming weeks, so Team EverySwerve will be working diligently to complete all necessary documentation  (See Figure 3).
