We finished the project, getting everything mounted to our door and working as intended. Our facial recognition model works very well and only opens the door for us. Unfortunately, about 2 days after getting it all set up and running, Housing made us take it down :(. Apparently there's some rule about no cameras in the hallway. With that being said, this was a great learning experience and we are already looking to adapt our design to take in some other input that does not require a camera.
We have the Jetson Nano up and running and have trained it with our facial recognition model. We have also built the relay circuit to power the solenoid and 3d printed a casing to hold the solenoid to the door. Our next steps will be to connect the solenoid to the Jetson to be controlled from there rather than the Raspberry Pi Pico that we used to test and build our relay circuit. After that, we will work on connecting everything to the door. We will also need to 3d print another piece to attach to the end of the solenoid at this point to actually push the lock on the door.
