This is a 3D-printed EDF-powered SV aka Drone Boat designed for autonomous operation. I modified and or designed the parts. The boat features a lightweight yet durable construction, making it ideal for experimentation with remote control, telemetry, and potential autonomous navigation. Using a combination of brushless motors, electronic speed controllers, and a flight controller (such as Pixhawk), the system is capable of precise maneuvering and high-speed water travel. This project explores the potential of EDF propulsion in watercraft while integrating 3D-printed components for customizability and rapid prototyping.

When I submerged my drone, I did something different this time. Instead of leaving the throttle on like before, I immediately shut it off, cutting power to the motor and thus the ESC. I let everything dry overnight in front of the fan, then retested it the next day. To my surprise, both the ESC, motor, and receiver were still working, even though they had been fully submerged for about 45 seconds to a minute. I had to jump in to rescue the drone, but everything seems to have survived this time.
I was at the river and got a little carried away—I pushed the throttle too hard when i was bringing it back in, I was actually getting ready to leave, and sure enough, the boat sank. My luck sometimes. I think I’m going to order a smaller mAh battery to lighten the load; I knew it was a bit heavy, but I wanted to see how it’d handle. Still, it was fun messing around with it for the hour I was out there. It sank on the way back in, but thankfully, the water wasn’t too cold!
