Plant133 is yet another plant-watering system. It supports up to 4 plants, using pulsed watering strategy, filtering moisture measurements. It uses a custom PCBA with an ESP32, a capacitive soil moisture sensor, and an aquarium pump. It integrates with Home Assistant. The GitHub repository includes C++ software, KiCAD designs, and OpenSCAD files for all 3D-printed parts. Everything is MIT-licensed. See https://selectiveappeal.org/posts/plant1337/.

Plant133 is a simple indoor plant-watering device. Its job is to keep a houseplant happy by watering it: keeping the soil moisture level between some minimum and maximum amount. I first posted about the project in 2023, after a long series of prototypes, as I taught myself about how to build a project like this. This first post describes the basic design of the hardware and software, and how it integrates with Home Assistant.

Here is a simple system diagram.

The watering state machine looks like this;

A year later, I published an update about the improved 4-plant version of the devce, with updated hardware and software.
