I took inspiration from the amazing Gaggioino Project (https://github.com/Zer0-bit/gaggiuino), however the only part, that I really wanted was the scale build into the base of the machine. Since I had this machine I was annoyed by the distance between the porta filter and the drip tray, making it impossible to blace a scale and a cup between those.
Load cells to the rescue. I took the 3D printable files from gaggionino to build the load cell mount below the drip tray and connected them to an Arduino nano via two HX711 amplifier boards.
Via a rotary encoder one can change the target value of the scale and safe it to EEPROM.
The button on the rotary tares the scale to 0.
