My idea is to build a small solar panel using 24 power transistors in a TO3 package. To do this, I'll uncover the transistors so the silicon die is exposed and connect the collector - base and emitter - base junctions in parallel to generate a higher current. I'll use 25 transistors, which I'll attach to an insulating support with screws, and made the electrical connection in the other side by wrapping metod. After some research, I decided to arrange five series of five transistors in parallel to achieve a specific voltage and current. I then had to design a small step-up switching device to raise the voltage to 5V so I could use it to charge a smartphone. This idea and implementation is purely experimental obviously, a solar panel has a very different energy output, but I wanted to demonstrate how a handful of transistors can be used in a very alternative way.
