New And Improved Web Version

A project log for Lunar Lander for the PDP-1

My PDP-1 Replica (PiDP-1) from Obsolescence Guaranteed has arrived and I want to do something cool with it.

I have created a new Web version of Lunar Lander for the PDP-1, seen here in "full screen" mode under Chrome.

Yes I'm aware that this is a pretty large page.  For performance/implementation reasons the actual displayable/drawable area has to be 512 x 512 pixels (the PDP-1 Type 30 display is actually 1024 x 1024).  So the surrounding image of the Type 30 display has to be scaled accordingly.  It sure feels a lot more immersive though IMHO.

Speaking of the image, the picture above was taken fairly recently and sent to me by the Computer History Museum, where I believe they have the only working PDP-1 system. I did edit the image a bit by erasing the light pen cable, overwriting the screen area, and of course removing the background.  Here is the original for reference.

The new version can be accessed directly via this link: Lunar Lander for the PDP-1.
