DockFrame is a modular, open-hardware docking system designed to extend the Framework Expansion Card ecosystem beyond the laptop.
It allows multiple Framework Expansion Cards to be used simultaneously in a standalone dock, turning them into reusable functional blocks instead of fixed, single-use accessories. DockFrame is fully compatible with official Framework cards and follows the same modular philosophy, while also enabling custom modules built around the same mechanical and electrical standard.
The system is designed as a platform rather than a closed product. A modular chassis provides standardized bays for Expansion Cards, along with space for additional functional modules such as power delivery, USB expansion, development boards, and measurement tools. All mechanical and electronic designs are open, editable, and intended to be reproducible.
Power management is a core focus of the project. DockFrame is built around USB-C Power Delivery, with a roadmap that starts at mod
