TraceR: A Software Traceability Tool

Track your software product development from PVD to SDD to HLRs to LLRs to STP

Similar projects worth following
Is your software fielded in safety/certified environments requiring certification audits? Or, do you simply want to improve and demonstrate the quality of your software? Then you will benefit from a software project traceability tool. TraceR turns a single Project.xml file source-of-truth into a fully linked stack of specification documents (SDD, HLRs, LLRs, STP, Traceability Matrix) and provides editor-native authoring with AI assistance to create and maintain them.

Vibe coding with AI doesn't have to be haphazard or even dangerous.

TraceR is an open source tool to automate traceability of your product's documentation from Product Vision Document to Software Test Plan. It helps demonstrate that your product has a formal design, documented requirements, and test coverage, and it simplifies maintaining these living documents during development. It includes a vscode extension to create, navigate, and edit this information with AI assistance. In addition, there is a command line tool to generate your project's documents with traceability from an xml file that stores all of the information. The xml data file will be included in your git project and maintained under source control in lock step with your product's source code. Integrating seamlessly with your CI workflow and automating verification of your traceability with each push. There's even AI support to help resolve the xml file if merge conflicts happen during development.

See the Product Vision Document for more details about what TraceR can do for you, and the README for the project status and the Software Plan Document for details about where the project is going next.
