I’ve been working on interfacing and testing a Spellman X3000 high voltage supply by building a custom control/interface board, starting with a hand-wired perf board prototype before moving toward a cleaner plug-in PCB design later on. I also cobbled together a high voltage connector for the supply, verified the pinout, and have the system running reliably enough to power a small demo fusor. The setup includes properly functioning soft current limiting, which made the supply really convenient. I originally assumed I would need to add a soft current limit circuit. The integrated current and voltage feedback is also incredibly handy for a HV supply.
