MD Performance E-DASH

MD Performance E-DASH is a custom digital dashboard platform designed for performance cars, motorsport projects, engine swaps and vehicles using standalone or factory ECUs.

The goal is to create a flexible 7–8 inch dashboard that can receive vehicle and engine data through CAN bus as well as directly from analog and digital sensors.

Instead of being tied to one ECU manufacturer, E-DASH is being designed as an open hardware platform that can support different communication protocols and ECU profiles.

Main Features

  • 7–8 inch high-resolution display
  • CAN bus communication with ECU
  • Configurable speedometer and tachometer
  • Coolant temperature display
  • Oil temperature and oil pressure
  • Fuel pressure
  • Intake air temperature
  • Boost pressure
  • Battery voltage
  • Lambda / AFR display
  • Analog sensor inputs
  • Digital inputs
  • Warning outputs
  • GPS module
  • Accelerometer / G-sensor
  • Vehicle speed calculation
  • Trip and distance information
  • Data logging
  • User-configurable dashboard layouts
  • Day and night display modes
  • Warning zones and alarm indicators

The dashboard is intended to work both as a CAN-based display and as an independent instrumentation system.

For vehicles without complete CAN data, sensors can be connected directly to the E-DASH hardware.

CAN Integration

The system will support communication with different ECUs through configurable CAN profiles.

Possible applications include:

  • Standalone ECUs
  • OEM engine management systems
  • Engine swap projects
  • Motorsport vehicles
  • Track cars
  • Custom-built vehicles

Future versions may include automatic ECU profile detection and configurable CAN message decoding.

Hardware

The planned hardware architecture includes:

  • Main MCU
  • CAN transceiver
  • Multiple analog inputs
  • Digital inputs and outputs
  • GPS
  • Accelerometer / IMU
  • External storage
  • USB communication
  • Internal data logging
  • Optional additional CAN channel

The hardware is being developed as part of the MD Performance engineering ecosystem.

Software

The user interface will allow different dashboard layouts to be created and configured.

Possible display elements include:

  • Circular gauges
  • Digital gauges
  • Bar graphs
  • Warning indicators
  • Shift lights
  • Numerical sensor values
  • GPS information
  • Performance measurements

The long-term goal is to allow users to build their own dashboard layouts without changing the firmware.

Project Goal

The objective of MD Performance E-DASH is to create a professional, flexible and affordable automotive display platform that can be adapted to many different vehicles and ECU systems.

This project is currently under active development.
