One trip shipping containers are cheap and portable and can make excellent work or living spaces. In this particular case, we're going to be processing apples to produce various alcoholic drinks via fermentation and distillation. There will also be pure pasteurised apple juice. In the UK, to even give a bottle of juice to a friend, the manufacturing environment has to meet a certain level of hygiene control. Fortunately, because we're not processing meat, the standards are fairly easy to achieve. We don't actually use dead rats in the fermentation process.

The container was designed with FreeCAD and ChatGPT6 using python macros. The animation shows the build process, welding brackets onto the outside of the container for the wood work, inserting French doors and cladding with box section roofing sheets. Shipping containers are very prone to condensation, so some insulation is necessary, especially if used in the Winter. In this design the insulation (not shown) is fixed on the outside of the container as we wanted to preserve the clean inner walls and make best use of the internal space. Once the brackets have been welded on, the inside can be painted to get a nice cleanable surface suitable for hygeine control. We're not working with meat products, so we fall into a low risk category that does not require expensive stainless steel or plastic internal cladding.

Ideally, the container should be positioned on a concrete slab as above, but a good layer of hard standing such as '4" and dust' could also be ok. The container needs to be elevated on concrete blocks to allow a crawl space for connecting drainage pipes from sinks etc. The site also needs to be accessible by the lorry delivering the container, with the container itself being lifted off the lorry with a high reach crane bolted onto the back of the lorry. The container floors may not be well  braced, so extra piles of blocks should be placed anywhere that heavy equipment of tanks are going to be positioned internally.
