Falcon Claw is a lightweight, low-cost robotic grasper for aerial applications (e.g., drone based package delivery). The hand will be able to grasp a variety of everyday life objects autonomously and at high-speed. Using Falcon Claw with UAVs will completely automate the package delivery process, minimising the time taken to load objects onto the drone or release them. The design of the grasper also allows for perching onto nearby structures (e.g., to recharge).
The project is named after the peregrine falcon, which is the fastest and most dexterous animal in the world in grabbing its prey at speed.
