no, i'm not laying off my colaborator, just shrinking the chip.

since atmel can't get thier act together and get me the awesome wireless chip I may as well use an attiny with a usb bootloader. so switching to the Attiny 1634. still has i2C and SPI and 16k flash, Plus.... a internal thermometer! yay bonus! and the package it waaay smaller, 4x4. whoo.

The SAMW23 dev boards are delayed until 11/27/14 so i guess i will just design with the other wifi chip.

An alternative would be to grab a accelerometer with a MCU in it but I feel going away from the D21 architecture would be a mistake if eventually i want to use the new chip. So rev-01 will be a little larger than planned but should still work great for most applications. I'll get going on that board design.

At least the accelerometer is. and granted it's only 5 wires. but great none the less.

The CC3000 wifi breakout and the MMA8452Q Accelerometer break out are here. Yay. The accelerometer uses I2C and the CC3000 uses SPI. fun huh? i am excited when i get the all in one chip and can reduce the complexity. I am really liking the simplicity of the accelerometer. Very few pins are needed to power, talk to, and get interrupts. plus they all run off ~1.6-3.6Vdc

Nice low power.  I just added Josh to the Github calaborators group. hopefully we will get some code brewing soon.

got my samd21 dev board up and running. now i need the sensors.

Digikey says the wifi dev board is supposed to be available on 8/20. here's hoping.

I Managed to get a colleague interested in helping with the programming so i can focus on board layout for the smaller version. its been 3+ years since I've done board layout so let's see how easy it is to jump into Ki-Cad.

So after my big mistake i am trying to find a good wifi and controller solutions. I still think i will plan on using a SAM D21 ARM Cortex-M0+ MCU controller but until the Soc package with integrated wifi comes i will just have to put the items together externally. but what is the closest thing to the wifi module they planned on having integrated in the ATSAMW23G18-MD2 (it just says atmel Wifi, which doesn't exist.?  I'll order things today.
