On a pipe organ console, a piston is a momentary contact switch that can be used to trigger toy stops, such as a Zimbelstern. This circuit takes that momentary contact and translates it to an on/off switch. It defaults to off and when the momentary switch is pressed for the first time, the circuit switches to on. From that point forward, each time the momentary switch is pressed, the circuit will toggle from on to off and so on. Even through the circuit indicates +5 volts DC for the Piston input, the solid state relays used for this circuit will accept low current DC and AC voltages up to 60 volts, as long as the values of R1 - R4 are adjusted to compensate for the higher voltage.
