Word Alarm Clock with a Touch

Description

An addition to a classic word alarm clock: A touch front cover. It's made of a PCB, with some electronics on the back to recognize the touch at each word. So you're able to control the clock by just touching it. You can set the time, alarm time and many other things.
On the backside there are two MPR121 for 24 different areas, which can be recognized. Since they run only at 3.3V some more parts were needed. The communication with the clock runs over I²C.

If you want a touch-version like the one shown here, I can't help you since the ICs I used for the touch-interface are not produced anymore. If you want a normal word-alarm clock, I can offer electronic kits and fine wooden housings. Nice feature. The MPR121 only works if you touch them? Is your surface conductive? Or does it work on distance too?

You can set a threshold so that it works also on distance. The front panel is a PCB with copper areas surrounding each word on the backside.
