1Step 1
Screw on a spacer.
For the base of our platform we will use one half-sized perma-proto. It is separated from the soldering platform by brass spacers.
Add another spacer.
Attach the brass headers using screws on the from the bottom.
-
2Step 2
Add the top platform.
For the actual platform we will be use a second half-sized perma-proto... Any size will do, really, but the top and bottom should be the same type.
Attach the top perma-proto.
Use two more screws from the top to attach the top perma-proto. Using brass spacers will allow you to take this apart if you need the perma-proto for another project. Its like having a ready spare!
-
3Step 3
Add Rubber Feet.
Ensure that the thickness of the feet is greater than the screw head thickness.
-
4Step 4
Put it to use for two breakout boards with two or more rows of header strips.
Place the headers in the configuration that they will go on the board.
Plop the board down on top of them.
Solder Away!
The result will be nice straight headers that are parallel to each other and perpendicular to the breakout board.
-
5Step 5
It can also be used for boards with just one row of headers.
Push the pins through some unused headers so that they are flush with the plastic. Place them on the perma-proto.
Position the headers so that the other side of the board you are soldering the headers on will sit on the flushed header strip.
Once again, the result is a row of headers that is perpendicular to the breakout board.
