The first application that we are exploring is the data logger backup system. In this example, we use Maxim's temperature logger, DS1922L. It is rugged, and can serve as a stand-alone logger with battery life that can potentially last for years. However, one shortcoming is that once the battery dies, all the data stored is lost. This is an issue when the battery dies during deployment in the field, which can sometimes be a few months to a few years. Adding a backup system ensures that the data will remain intact. The small form factor, low power consumption of the PICO board and other electronics makes the system suitable for the application.
In the future, we can add more sensors, medium to long range connectivity, which will open up the door for remote sensor management. The possibilities are endless!
This is an awesome project to build off of. Thanks for sharing!
