i2s (and other digital audio standards) based mono digital audio out with optional analog input mixing. Separate speaker input voltage allows for 3.3-5.5V in. Higher voltage provides for more wattage and efficiency. Can drive up to 2W and up to an 8ohm speaker in addition to headphone output. Designed to provide effects or stereo output in a pair.
Any software related will be released under BSD or MIT license. SAAS or cloud based software will be AGPL.
We hired a firmware writer to help produce the Arduino driver for this board. We are still testing it, but the results look good.
We will need to be delicate with the headphone out if trying to use it as a line in for various other Flex Modules. The impedance will be wrong obviously, but some boards do have no protection on negative signals.
We bough mini test speakers for props and hope to test them with this board soon.
There are a couple recipes that TI shows, but it will be hard to do much else in the drivers as it takes a large amount of expertise to understand.
We have had interest in this board and so it is a priority for us.
