SLS 3D Printer

Here's a picture from a few months ago that I happened across while looking for more stuff to post. I was so happy that I had printed a square. Not a cube, or even a short cube, just a two layer square. If only I had known what was coming next. It's probably better that I didn't.

I've been printing various little things to see how the printer does, to build up a set of example prints, and because...3D printer! Instead of posting everything here I made an imgur gallery and added the link to the project. I plan to be posting a lot more pictures, and details, over the next few days. Apparently, staying up until the wee hours of the morning isn't a good way of maintaining forward momentum.

After many long months of trial and error, I finally have a successful print! Woohoo!

Here's the original STL file. I scaled it down by 50% to get it to print faster. The gear in the pictures below is about 30mm in diameter, and 5mm thick. It took about 2 hours to print (approx. 50mm/s), so that's something I still need to work on. For now, I'm happy that it worked.
