Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but perhaps the key caps are literally the 'key' to the cipher. The second image has the key caps all lined up over the cipher, so maybe it's not a coincidence. The key-caps project log http://hackaday.io/project/1506-Hackaday-Cherry-MX-Keycaps might hold the right clues

It doesn't seem to be a Caeser cipher. Or a QWERTY <> Dvorak cipher, which I thought it might be because of the "." in it, and it's prominence underneath the Hackaday keycaps.

Based on all the clues, my hunch is that it is a date, related to either the 10 year anniversary of Hackaday or the upcoming announcements of the winners of the Hackaday Prize, but that's about as far as I've got, and I am not even convinced of that.

What do you guys think? Does it means something interesting, or is it just something simple that I've overlooked?
