After building the first revision, there are several mechanical and footprint issues to be addressed in rev 2. There are no electrical issues so the schematic will remain unchanged.
I've verified the following features of the design:
There is a slight issue with the battery dimensions such that the battery contacts the work table rather than the edge of the PCB as intended. In the rev 2 files the board has been extended 2mm to remedy this.
In order to create a stable stand, I've used one populated PCB along with one blank PCB to hold the fume extractor upright.
Rev 2 has no additional features to rev 1, some features which may be implemented later include:

Just built this last night, there were a couple of problems. Q1 (p fet according to BOM) will only work when gate is shorted to drain, and r10 and r12 needed swapped around on the pcb for it to boost to 12v. Other than that, works great!

Just one thing: Have you checked if your Battery protection circuit is working? I worry it will never cut off the load, since the APX810 is not low-active as proposed by the schematic. But than it also has a push-pull output and I'm wondering why it is working at all...Is Q1 fully on under normal operation?

You might want to think of adding this to your BOM. it's an 80mm fan cover with 30ppi filter, you can swap the filter media out for a carbon impregnated sheet for better fume handling.

Thank you! I'm currently using sheets of active carbon filter you can buy from ebay. Had not found a reasonably priced filter for 80mm fans. This one is also thinner which should improve airflow from the ones I'm currently using. Cheers!

I'm also having problems with GERBV having issues with the drills - GERBV and OshPark just show a blank layer with circles grouped together on the bottom left
I fixed this issue about 18 hours ago and confirmed they worked with OSHPark as did the other gentleman. Can you confirm that the date on the .zip you're downloading is 1/27 and you're not uploading the wrong .zip?
I've redownloaded the zip from above, uploaded to oshpark, and the drills are the same. When I opened the zip file, the files are all dated 15th.
Not sure what to tell you. If the files are dated the 15th then that will happen with most boardhouses in the U.S.. Refresh the page and make sure you've deleted the old .zip you have?
No matter how many times I download, files always say 15th, even from computer that has never been on this webpage. Someone on slack sent me his version which works. Not sure if download region matters, but I've got it now. Thanks

Thanks! I suspect the file you're looking for is FumeExtractor.DRR in that folder which is the NC Drill file. Let me know if that's not what you were looking for.
Curious. When I try to open the DRR (drill report?) it in GERBV it tells me it is an invalid file. Oshpark also has problems with it. Can you try submitting your Gerber files to Oshpark as a shared project? Perhaps I am doing something wrong. Thanks!
This is an issue with how OSH park requires their files submitted. I've re-exported them to comply with the OSH park format.
Great idea, but instead of only sucking the fumes away from you and basically spread them in the room, you should add an active carbon filter.
You are correct! Filters are currently on their way from China but even dispersing them is much better than straight up the nose.
Nice job on the project. You can put me down for a couple also if you are planning on selling them as a kit. Otherwise I will be sending boards files out to be made

this is really nice, you thinking about selling this / have you priced it out yet? there are no fume extractors for sale on tindie as of now.
I could see making a bracket to attach it to back jaws of my #Stickvise - low profile soldering vise so your fume extraction follows the PCB vise around.
Hi Alex, I did not intend to sell this but I've received a dozen or so comments asking this. I'm investigating now if there's enough interest as is or make a universal version capable of 40, 80 or 120 mm fans. There are several locations which could facilitate mounting to other hardware such as your vise.
@Nate when you're ready post a CAD file of the PCBs in addition to just gerbers, maybe I or someone else will take a crack at a case design.
