You are just showing us how i can't understand how you could finish that complex board.

can you provide us a simple schematic about how to create a SPI connection to that lcd?i have a samsung ace3 lcd which also has 30 pins.Apple is buying oled screens of samsung so i believe that my lcd is the same interface with this one.

Hello! Could you please point out where to find pinout of e980 display? i've serched google for service manual but with no luck(

Hey there, love your project! Just ordered two boards from creotech to see what to make of it :). Do you know, is there any chance to drive displays with a larger resolution like WQHD (2560x1440) or 4K (3840x2160) with this hardware or a slightly tweaked one?

Not with the current board, but maybe in the future... Who knows ;-)

This shield supports only Iphone 4? And Iphone 3GS?

hello, your project is very good, you could help me with a problem I have, I find no reference of the internal LCD controller in iphone 4 / 4s, if you share, will be very useful for my Project.

Is Creotech selling your V1 or V2 and can they do the adapter boards too? Also do they flash the firmware or is that something we need to do?

Just one last question. Where can I attach the adapter. Maybe sounds like a real noobish question, but I see that the rev2 board is lacking the pin connectors the rev1 had and I cannot see another possibility. So before I start to make an adapter for the rev2 I would need to know that. Thanks, Jack

Hi, will there be a possibility to attach other displays than the e980 and the ip4 screen? Because I plan using a HTC one M7 screen with it.
Are you sure? yes | no
Yes, but you will need an additional adapter. We don't plan to make one for HTC M7, but since they are passive, it's fairy easy to design one...

Thank you for the fast answer. I think I can manage to design such an adapter. Do you or anyone else have a hint for me how to trace down the pinout for a specific display? I don't know where to start. Thanks in advance.

The easiest way is to find the service/repair manual. They usually contain at least partial schematics.

It's a pitty. There's not even a clue to the pinout in the service manual. But I think I will give the HTC Droid DNA adapter a try because it is using the same connector as the M7, maybe the pinout is also the same. So I am looking forward to the commercial release.

Can it be changed to support 1080p 60hz?

I could not manage to get a working boot.ram after compiling the amoled sources. In contrast to the boot.ram provided with the amoled there's even no output to the terminal. Any ideas what could be wrong?
Are you sure? yes | no
s4-amoled it's just a private branch, it might not work. AFAIR the GS4 screen should work with the firmware from the master branch.
Are you sure? yes | no
thx, with the master branch it worked. For the uart I noticed that most of the time my terminal (tera term) showed strange characters. Even configuring it to 9600 baud did not improve things. Any ideas?

Toshiba made a dedicated chip to convert hdmi to mipi
Are you sure? yes | no
I've known this chip for at least 2 years. And I don't plan to use it - the whole purpose of this project is to be OPEN HARDWARE. Putting an NDA'd piece of silicon in its heart makes absoultely no sense. Ahhh, and it doesn't have a framebuffer, graphics stack and thus can't run Doom... Sigh...
Are you sure? yes | no
did you ever try to get information on this device - datasheet, EVM ... or get samples? Seems Toshiba is closed source - additionally you'll need microvias ...
Are you sure? yes | no
As I said many times, Toshiba's chip is a complete black box, with no public documentation available at all. This makes it unsuitable for any Open Hardware project.
Are you sure? yes | no
If you ask me, I did not try. Also I thank you that you keep this project open-source. I just found the article which says there is such a chip.
Anyway, is there any chance to see this for sale until the end of this year?

Sure! Ask Creotech [http://creotech.pl/].

I would build it using your documentation on your page but sincerely I will have to give up to my last two-three hours of sleep every night. It seems that in the end I will give up sleeping for some time in order to build this according to your specifications, because...
I follow your advice, I called and asked. Here is the answer:
"We are sorry but our nondisclosure policy does not allow us to offer information about our customers"
I was hoping for an answer from you, not for that official cold answer.
So, seriously, is there any chance to see your work (assembled board) in a shop where me and others can pay YOU money for it?
Are you sure? yes | no
Perfect!
I'm watching your work every week for news.
When will you start selling them? I wish for two or three of these to hook my Raspberry Pi's HDMI outputs and hang them somewhere in my lab.
These are fantastic devices which can also be used in debugging display devices like old CRT tv (vacuum tubes included), new TVs, monitors, viewing signals, building diagram-based measuring devices (oscilloscopes for examples).
Idea for signal inputs: composite (+audio), hdmi+ adapters (from VGA and DVI), serial (UART) input, serial (TTL) input, SerialUSB (ftdi) input.
And any ideas you might have. You will be able to manufacture a tool that a lot of engineers will find extremely useful.
