Changing Gears
08/22/2015 at 16:28 • 0 commentsWell the color detector module worked but didn't work reliably enough for me to continue using it. In the somewhat near future I will be changing how this works and moving to a more $$ platform (because it is easier for me). Stay tuned.

Tougher than thought
01/03/2015 at 10:22 • 0 commentswell it turns out that getting the sensor to detect the correct color is a little more difficult than I previosly thought. This would much easier on a pc with a camera and pixel selection. I do believe my current issue is lighting.

Deuteranomaly
12/20/2014 at 04:58 • 0 commentsDeuteranomaly (most common—6% of males, 0.4% of females):[21] These individuals have a mutated form of the medium-wavelength (green) pigment. The medium-wavelength pigment is shifted towards the red end of the spectrum resulting in a reduction in sensitivity to the green area of the spectrum. Unlike protanomaly the intensity of colors is unchanged. This is the most common form of color blindness, making up about 6% of the male population. The deuteranomalous person is considered "green weak". For example, in the evening, dark green cars appear to be black to Deuteranomalous people. Similar to the protanomates, deuteranomates are poor at discriminating small differences in hues in the red, orange, yellow, green region of the spectrum. They make errors in the naming of hues in this region because the hues appear somewhat shifted towards green. One very important difference between deuteranomalous individuals and protanomalous individuals is deuteranomalous individuals do not have the loss of "brightness" problem.

Hope...
12/20/2014 at 04:49 • 0 commentsI really want this project to succeed after watching a struggle with a Lite-Brite kit. Being color blind is genetic and currently has no chance for resolving. I am sure this tool already exists but I saw a need and figured I could build it (like my other projects). The goal is basic device. Handheld , screen, USB charagable, and 1 button. User would hold deivce up to object in question and press the button to understand the color. It would help to understand what colors you currently struggle with so not all colors need to be scanned.
