To be honest, I would really overhaul the whole components, files and assembly instruction sections — move them to a separate subpage, for a start, displaying them together.
Hey Anool,
We have tried to provide some of this capability via a FC Pro Open Hardware integration, but it hasn't been publicly visible nor directly integrated into the core Hackaday.io flow. We'll make sure to prioritize this. Thanks!
On my netbook (ASUS 1005HA, 1024x600 screen), the top banner in the PM/Chat page is unnecessarily thick and overlaps the chat frames at the top. I can't see whether or not the top person in the list is online or not! Codefix, plzkthx.
Don’t get salty, i’m sure either they’re working, considering, or it’s just you. I never liked the mobile site, it’s a pain to use.
It's actually not the mobile site that's being served to my netbook. I'd be even louder if it was...
HI @Starhawk we hear you and appreciate your feedback! Lots of improvements in the works. Thanks for the comment.
Can you make the world icon in the public chat bigger please.
Some of us Dinosaurs already see double ;-)
On tagging and inviting people- When you tag someone with a generic name in the chat, like steve of something, there's 100 of them, and the chances of the one you want popping up in the 5 that you can choose from is very slim. Also, i tried to invite @Austin Tomson to the #Chat for Drones, and he didn't show up. Idk what's the problem with it.
Not sure why Austin won't show up, but another option to look into is enabling a public chat for the drones project. A public room skips the whole invite process, and you get a public chat button on the project page. You can still invite contributors to the existing chat room. https://cdn.hackaday.io/images/7148251524677483235.png
Sure, try it out and let me know what you think. Just to be clear, you will see two rooms in chat, the public one will have a world icon. You can share that URL and visitors can see the chat but not post until they register and join it.
it's a neat idea i guess, but i would rather it just make the original room public, instead of two seperate rooms. It's kinda confusing, i don't know which to post in
the spam is becoming a downer more and more, could you share some thoughts on how you'll work on it? What's in the pipeline? Strategies?
btw. I've already reported the person a while ago - 184 projects by now https://hackaday.io/hacker/298411-lee
Sorry, it's a priority and thanks for the reports. There are ongoing changes to existing strategies as they find workarounds. It needs to be done in a way that doesn't impact everyone else's experience.
I don't think anyone feels the need to post +20 projects a day, so maybe a restriction is something everyone can live with. I think shadow banning and some more moderators could help for a start. (I came back to say it's 208 projects now)
some of that is already implemented, and you should see less spam now.
[this comment has been deleted]
https://hackaday.io/XOCLUBXOSHOP made 509 identical projects to spam/SEO :-(
we do have a timeout for project creation, but bots just wait long enough to bypass that. we have some different strategies on, and there should be less spam now.
The ---more--- tag doesn't seem to work on the "my pages" list — the whole content is displayed instead.
Lots of seemingly pointless Chinese posts in the global feed recently.
Perhaps i should consider learning Chinese
I cannot copy code snippets from messages. rather annoying :p
Hi guys, could someone please tell me how can I review projects that I like? I could not find any list showing projects I clicked like button before. Thanks for your assistance.
Hello Mehmet! On your profile page you have "View all" button in "Projects I Like & Follow" section. Here is the link: https://hackaday.io/projects/hacker/305972/likesandfollows
Thanks a lot Lutetium! Though I would advise website developers to put a link on a more visible place such as the main menu. Cheers.
I really don't like project pages, they are cluttered and there is no clear distinction between different parts (overview, logs, discussion etc.). Makes skimming difficult.
A couple of my projects do not have the "views" counter. I saw that sometimes you have to wait a couple days for this to start but it's been >2 weeks. Is there a setting to turn this on? Thanks!
I think there is a threshold of a weird number like 80 or something
Can not delete images when editing a project. Tried that Firefox / Chromium in Linux and also in Chrome for Windows. the (X) icon points to javascript:void(o)
Sorry about that, while this gets fixed if you drag any image to first position you can click the X over the larger image above to remove it.
Thanks!! It worked. It might be the second time that I thank you since my previous reply simply vanished from the thread.
Today I suddenly noticed that I have accidentally reported my own project as inappropriate (it says "You have reported this project and we are looking into it") and I don't even know when I did that (probably on my cellphone when I accidentally touched it?). Is there anyway to withdrawal the report?
it doesn't really matter, somebody will check it over, and unless it really is inappropriate, they won't do anything. it would have to be close to a hackaday pornhub though, i mean, this is a thing- #Internet of Condoms
To clarify, there are site-wide rules and if the project violates any of these (say, explicit materials), it might get deleted - but the rules are lax enough that this is unlikely.
Same exact thing happened to me, and I also have no idea when exactly it happened... But my project "censh" has said that since the day I posted it. (I so posted on a cellphone - the button for reporting a project should probably have an "Are you sure?" dialog before doing the report)
HI there- We review all reports carefully and if the project looks like it shouldn't have been reported, we probably are just going to keep a watch on it.
I've tried to submit my project
https://hackaday.io/project/134831-atmega4809-developing-board-project
to Hackaday Prize (Open hardware) but never done. My project or my account is banned-out?
is it working yet ?
it would be sad if you couldn't participate !
I think it's extremely unlikely somebody would ban you from participation, sounds like a bug =)
Hello @kodera2t ! Are there any errors or issues during the submit process?
Yes, "waiting circle" rotating by applying to hackaday prize and never done..
Do you have any idea or is there any requirement (for example completed BOM) for hackaday prize submission. Actually none of my project cannot be. If except for me no issue, I guess I am banned out by some reason.
Have you already tried submitting to the 2018 Hackaday Prize?
That does does not work... "waiting rotating circle" forever...
I put up a project page and even got a notice someone is following it, but now the project is gone. Project name was "Tannerino".
i think there should be a way to tell if someone is on, like on the chat, but somewhere on their profile
It would be good to include the normal plain text body in emails, the html only email has a few issues such as: unreadable mess for those with disabled html (security, anti phishing), tends to be seen as spam and eaten by spam filters
Just to confirm, are you describing the hackaday.io system emails?
I just noticed another "intermittent problem", HaD.io didn't even ping for some minutes. Other french friends reported something similar these last 2 days. Are you being DDOSed ?
I too have experienced this problem lately. Hackaday.io wouldn't load or respond to ping while Hackaday.com was fine. But it only lasted a few minutes. Chrome showed "Connection was reset" error. Probably some minor server issues..
You mean by a firewall ? Chances are low. Because everything was working fine just before it. I quickly flushed the DNS, cleared cookies and restarted the browser, but didn't help. The browser showed "Establishing secure connection.." and just stuck. I do not know anything more about it.
The ping didn't reply during these periods, so your browser couldn't establish the connection...
I hope HaD's network team can figure what's going on.
Yeah. There was 100% packet loss. I've only experienced it two times.
i hate the next thing on the lists, and things like this suck: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1t8HmkcBIjY_kuGKe3MzFXPqM_Q1toKgc/view GO BACK TO THE INFINITE SCROLL!
I'm not sure about infinite scroll, but the lists pagination is fixed in an upcoming release.

Can the "ADD COMPONENTS" part of the Project be made more user friendly. Adding each component, one line at a time is really awkward. Shouldn't it be possible to parse and read a CSV file to build a BoM, just like Digikey or Mouser?
