Hey jacksonliam did you see this on all feed read more type links or just some?
I think it might just be links to comments on instructions e.g this link https://hackaday.io/instruction/8678#j-discussion-58465 or this one https://hackaday.io/instruction/8678/#j-discussions-title to this project https://hackaday.io/project/8678 404.
Regarding eMail notification with subject: "%user% mentioned your project" I suggest to change it to "%user% mentioned your project %projectname%";
Background: I got two of these mails, but it is not mentioned which project of mine was referenced to and I cannot figure it out by reading the post. So this feature is more or less useless to me as-is. I can only guess that something like "if %projectname% in %post% then send mail" is going on?
Thanks we'll look into making the mentioned project clear.
Feed reported 12 new items unread, but only found two actually, distinctly unread items.
I want to +1 BigEd's observations too. A contributing factor for me: no visual distinction between item boundaries leads to a very cluttered feed, which makes reading it difficult.
Too much stuff appearing in the feed. I keep seeing the same projects updated - are all these real and distinct updates? What changed?
I see stack messages - there seems to be no way to unsubscribe.
And there's no way to see which feed messages I have and have not read.
(I had to split that into three messages because when I did one with the links it truncated it.
If ever you take submissions for additional content to allow, please allow Shadertoy and Desmos.
Some control over the "My Feed" stuff would be great. I have no idea why some things show up in there that I haven't liked, followed, or anything. It kind of clutters up the first page you see when you log on.
Also, when doing a log post, I sometimes want to use the insert table feature. The problem is you can't size any of the columns or rows and they resize when you save the post so what you see is not what you get. I'd really like to see that feature made usable.
I'm having difficulty using tags in the HTML view of the editor. I'd like to use superscripts for footnotes in a table. I go into HTML mode, and add the 1 code. Exiting HTML mode, the superscript appears fine in the normal editor mode, but when I save the log entry (as a draft in this case), the tag is removed.
Edit - same thing outside of tables, and with tags, too. Nd2Fe14B just isn't the same written this way :-)
not all html tags are allowed and even if you see them in editor mode they will not be saved. we just added html mode but we're still not allowing much more than what you can use with a toolbar. we'll probably allow more safe tags soon.
I tried to add some interactive links in my Project Log by using IFrames from html mode, but when I published it, the site had munched them.
What is the party approved way to embed my Shadertoy and Desmos content so they will animate and be properly interactive?
OMG, when'd the HTML editor come around?!
But... it doesn't work... Click <>, type <s>thing</s> Unclick <>, SEE struck-through "thing", Click Save, Unstruck-through :(
We're still allowing only what you can use with the existing toolbar. We'll probably allow more safe tags soon.
Hey Tim! We're currently only allowing vimeo and youtube links for iFrames.
Hello! I recently received spam here. Sophie was top A+ help getting rid of it and the spammer. Rather than take up her time, could you please add a "this is spam" button for future? As HADIO grows this will happen more and dealing with it will become a growing burden. Thank you!
+1. With enough people clicking on the button, this can be automated.
Still waiting for ways to removed PM and comments (once confirmed by others) from spammers.
I have also seen (and have reported) an increase in unrelated accounts to gamble google page view e.g. escort service, dating service, gambling, astrology and questionably PC support. Would be nice to automated that too.
A computer has access to stats that humans don't. It can notice the rate of PM/comment traffic (vs the norm) and can also comb through the last n messages/PM sent. There are enough stats to show what normal activities should look like.
- If it is a *new* account with high rate, exact message, then it is a lazy spam account. (special exception is group messaging in a project.)
The owner of an account should be able to delete PM threads whether it is SPAM or not. Comments is a bit of tricky topic, but the owner should also be able to delete a confirmed SPAM or deleted account.
The revenge spam report/like bots can be minimized if the account creation date and amount of HaD.io activities/interactions is taken into account. If you have accounts that are all within a few days old all doing the same thing (likes/dislikes/follow a project/account), chances are they are controlled by a program (or slashdot effects?). Also compare the age of accounts from the accuser vs the target. Which one is older (should look at log scale)? The older account should be given more trust/benefit of a doubt.
hi Dan, we'll see to add that option in private messages, but for now you can use Report as inappropriate in sidebar on user's profile page.
Yes! got spam today and could only flag the users themselves, but the spam lives on.
Some way to actually remove message threads from the inbox is paramount (especially for spam).
In private projects, edits to the "components used" section fail to save, and items cannot be removed.
Please fix this!
Can you edit components in your private project now? DO you have anymore details like browser/os? Thanks.
It is working now. I was/am using Chrome on Android 6.0 and Chrome on Windows 7 in case that means anything.
Ok great. It may have been an intermittent issue, let us know if you see it again.
When looking at a page like
https://hackaday.io/projects/sort/date
all the projects I already skulled are marked with a mustard skull icon. The projects that I didn't skulled, have a grey skull icon. This is a great feature.
The problem is when I look at a page like
https://hackaday.io/projects/tag/2016hackadayprize/sort/date
because the projects I already skulled are not marked any more. They all have grey skull icons.
I am using Firefox 46.0.1.
When viewing my feed, I was seeing someone else's feed, and it showed their profile picture in place of mine, after clicking "My profile" it took me to their profile, but resolved itself there.
Had similar issue today. It was as I was logged in as someone else.
we're probably all part of the new hackaday - witness protection program, since my name was alberto for a moment.
The LaTeX equations are not editable, once created you can only edit them as a picture (title, description, position), but the equation itself cannot be edited anymore. This is annoying as I made a mistake in my formula, but now I have to type the whole thing again. Could you please make the LaTeX formulas editable?
I submitted my project to the "Anything Goes" round.
I just wanted to say that the submittal form was surprisingly informative. Putting the requirements up front where people can see them, clearly stated, is a welcome change from the rest of the internet.
We're the high-tech crowd, and it's nice that we have a system that's clear and easy to use.
when I'm on this project site, I get the login/signup bar on the top https://hackaday.io/project/11911-routaboard - but I'm actually logged in already and don't see that on any other projects.
https://hackaday.io/project/37-Feedback---Hackaday-Projects this link from the menu is broken. And I was an alberto for a second.
Seen the over capacity screen and the 403 on log file update.
Looks like HaD need to add a few more RPi servers or cut back on those bling-bling?
maybe the 404 robot takes too many resources ? :-D
My most recent build log (link below) contains a list with 5 elements, but only 3 are shown.
When I edit the log, all 5 elements are shown, but the submitted version only shows 3 lines.
https://hackaday.io/project/10707-lasercut-optics-bench/log/38679-working-indoors-in-the-summer
(It's the only list in the post, near the bottom.)
Apparently, looking at the project page shows only 3 lines, but looking at the log as its own page shows all 5 lines.
Go to the project page (link below), scroll down to the build logs section, it's the most recent build log. The list is near the bottom.
https://hackaday.io/project/10707-lasercut-optics-bench
When I go to the log link, shown in the previous message, it shows the entire 5-item list.
Using bog-standard Chromium install under linux, with no unusual extensions. Same thing happens in my heavily-extended Mozilla, so I suspect it's a problem on your side.
