I would love to see an expansion of the overall API but the one part I keep encountering a need for is to edit the files in a project. When ever I change my KiCAD project I generate a PDF of the schematic, it would be great to be able to re-upload that file with a post commit hook.
In any text field highlight a span of characters and press the "delete" key. All characters are deleted, plus one extra after the end of the highlighting.
For example, in the sentence above (this very text field) I highlight "light" from the word "highlighting", and press delete. What remains is "highng", because the "i" after the end of the selection is also deleted.
Using Chromium on linux, all versions current as of last Wednesday.
I've hit add project way to often on my samsung s6 in chrome, instead of opening the feed or messages. Maybe don't put links on top of other links. I can't say I know where to put em though :(
Hi, I've meet a problem. I've just registered my account with the user name call "CCDynamic". For some reason I deleted my account and registered again. But the username "CCDynamic" is still occupied. Could you help?
You may be able to fix this yourself if you can attempt to login to the old account and restore it, then change the username to something else. That would free it up for your new account.
Hi, Richard. Thanks for the reply. I've tried this. After I deleted the old account, I registered new account with the same e-mail. When I choose to restore it, I find the e-mail account has already binding to the new empty profile. Since the login procedure only allows login by email, I've no way to access the old profile. I think the only way to fix this is to remove the old username profile from database manually.
Update: Solved. You've bind the profile to my account. Thanks for the help.
Hey Walter! You should be good to go--let Rich or me know if anything else is up. Cheers!
I've tried to submit my 2 projects on my account 3 or 4 times now, and when I leave the page, the project disappears! It's getting frustrating retyping everything and getting nowhere!
This time I've disable UBlock Origin in FireFox for your site, and it still deleted my project. How do I fix this?
Update: I think it was an incomplete profile. odd that it let me add the information, but the commit button was missing until the profile had all the necessities.
Hey Carl!
I'm sorry that's happening, I definitely understand your frustration. I'll shoot you a PM so we can get on top of this. Cheers!
SiFi contest deadline was Monday, March 6. I still get the Submit project to it on the left side.
The Sci-Fi contest should no longer show up in the list, thanks.
Firefox/Linux user here. Adblock and NoScript enabled.
When I edit the parts list, I can't enter numbers/counts directly on the left field. The up/down arrows work but direct digit entry doesn't. It can get annoying when entering numbers like 10000 !
I have to type the number in another field (terminal or editable area), select and middle-click on the field. Erasing and left/right arrows work...
I've had this problem since I'm here and I wonder why it hasn't been reported before.
I made my BOM in csv and uploaded it to github and just posted the link from my component list. Also a good way of revision control for the BOM along with the design. There is no reason for having to work with the web interface and not restricted to the fields. I like github's rendering much better.
Don't know if anyone else has suggested this in the past, but it'd be awesome if there was a feature for projects to keep track of bugs and planned features. I'm thinking something like elements from Trac embedded into the site.
I would even go so far as to replace what we currently have **with** Trac and let us manage our sites. OTOH, it would also mean that hackaday.io would need to compete with github.com, and since I already have my presence there, that might be an issue.
I think a hybrid system would be nice, hackaday.io could just use your GitHub in the back-end meaning that it wouldn't be competing and tickets, etc. would be managed here. hackaday.io has some nice features like project logs, embedded videos, component lists, etc. I think HAD would deal with things like skinning and limiting what could be done, lest the site get cluttered.
When adding comments/logs etc, Ctrl-Backspace doesn't delete a word. I think hackaday.io uses a "too much customized" editor code. Please don't do that. Please don't play with our muscle memory! It's frustrating.
I keep repeating it.
they must let the browser do its work but they insist on interfering with the keyboard to add ... bells and whistles that keep low-powered CPU in the dirt.
But I bet "it works well on my brand new and shiny Apple computer".
Repeat after me :
"if it doesn't work well on a Raspberry Pi, it shouldn't come online"
Thank you again for reading.
Gah, you wrote this a whole month ago and nothing has happened. I feel your frustration.
I have pretty much given up on Del/Ctrl-Del as every time they try to fix it, it broke in other ways and making the problem worse.
"Add to my Calendar" button on events seems to have a bug w.r.t. timezones.
For example: HaD prize chat event (28 Apr 12pm Pacific time)
The "Google Calendar" link from HaD specifies T0500Z (which is approximately now), but should be T1900Z (now + 14 hours).
Funnily enough, I would prefer that it was on now, as that suits my local time much better (I'll be sleeping during the actual time). As thanks for this bug report, please pimp my entry for likes in the chat ;)
Regularly, when logged into my account, my Hackaday.io experience degrades. I seem to be applying a different CSS (eg an attempt at a 'light' theme) or a CSS is missing. Every page seems to have a white toolbar and posts and text widgets are in white but much of the page is a black text of a dark background making it incredibly hard to read. An example is here of how this page looks for me right now: http://imgur.com/a/MsCyd
that's remaining of some old easter egg and it will be completely removed soon. try to press control+shift+i and it should be back to normal.
"some old easter egg" ??
what if Hackaday simply... worked ?
Hey Scott this should be fixed now, let me know if it's still a problem for you.
I notice that I can no longer highlight a block of text and use the DLETE key to delete them all at once (in comment). This is for Chrome browser win 7 x64.
Hey KC, we've been able to replicate this on the newest version of Chrome (v58). Thanks for reporting this issue.
The site is pretty awesome, I like that I can 'like' and 'follow' projects. I see you also have lists, but cannot see how I create my own lists of projects. I would really like to be able to post my own lists to my own profile, so I can do my own curated taxonomy (eg twitter lists).
I just made a project for #Hackaday TTLers and #Dot flippers because mere users can't make lists...
Projects are quite flexible so use and abuse (as long as it's a cool hack) ;-)
Hi Scott! Please email projects-contact@hackaday.com with 1) link to your profile 2) name of list you want 3) 10 projects to be added to that list
Hey I didn't know it was possible :-D Can I apply too ?
There's also no obvious way of submitting a project to a list or indeed any general info on what lists are all about really. They often seem to stagnate after creation, possibly due to their mostly "read only" nature.
+1 for submit to list button on projects. I worry sometimes that lists might become orphaned if their owners move on to other things.
I am trying to determine what access/privileges a user has when I add them as team member to a project page? I have yet to add anyone and my concern is I don't want things deleted/changed without my knowledge.
I've just invited you to a project, feel free to play around :)
I'm still pro "three feed" - personal (comments on my projects, pages and profile; likes and followers) - an "other persons and projects I follow" feed - and (not so important for me) the global feed. Especially when someone is grateful and writes 20 thank you notes on other projects ;)
Yeah sorry about that. I've been watching the feed for Cardware and a couple hundred follows went on other projects without showing up. I can hardly ignore them...
Perhaps we could make these optional as to whether they show in the feed or not. I've got twice as many yet to ingratiate. ;-)
oh don't be sorry, I regret not doing it myself :) At one point it was optional, with checkboxes and all that.
yahknow when you scroll to the bottom of a log you wrote and you see the two options, to view the previous log or to view the next log... it'd be nice if there was a "new log" button down there, too. Maybe in place of the "next log" link, when you're at the latest.
and also: two comments where on my latest log on #WIFI Game Boy Cartridge but only the first comment is on my feed.
can you elaborate on this one? as in you can't like projects/users anymore?
it's still a problem @Van Nguyen - I missed another skull, yesterday it was 54 skulls, now it's 55. Nothing in the feed.
Feature Request - user timezones, applied to events (Hack Chat).
I don't know when "12pm PST" is, I'm on the other side of the planet. But a few lines of javascript could convert it for me...
Interesting. I crossed paths with @Richard Hogben who is also having trouble with mobile browsing:
Is it running kitkat or has it been upgraded? The edit button or edit window doesn't look like anything close to the attached?
I tried this and was unable to repeat the split frames, making a project called 'Project test' that I then deleted. It worked as it does on my PC and didnt care about the screen orientation.
This has now vanished from my list of projects, but there is a room still floating in Messenger with that title. Should that still be there, and how do I remove it?
Hi, I was just doing a little troubleshooting for you, that image is actually two screenshots I made side by side to show the two steps of clicking 'Edit page' and then 'Publish.' You said you couldn't see one of the buttons, if you could show a screenshot or illustrate that somehow it would help.
Ahh, I see. Thanks for the input, and for clearing that up. It was the messenger I was having trouble with, unable to contact anyone... :-)
Obviously there are still minor problems with parts of the account structures remaining after deletion. I'd not have noticed that either, so thanks.

They have a list of email address that SPAM bot used for registration each day.
BTW The spammer's pages are searchable on google.

That's why they keep coming back. If the profile page were made not searchable by using robot.txt, then there is no reason why they would bother.
