Reptile Tank Monitor

Description

Start of the project, more to come soon.

Basically my eldest son (8) has a Sand Boa and I would love to monitor the cage remotely for fun. Get temperature and maybe be able to control the heat pad and light remotely via a mobile interface or Android app. Our family also has a Anole lizard I would like to do the same.

Initial Design

1 x Esp8266 Serial Wifi Wireless Transceiver Module
1 x Arduino
4 x DS18b20 Waterproof Temperature Sensors
2 x DHT11 Digital Humidity Temperature Sensor

I hope to see if I can just use the ESP8266 down the line and remove the Arduino , and that's it to do all this.

Talking to the esp8266

Using my Bus Pirate, I was able to talk to the esp8266 and flash its firmware, then was able to connect it to my home wireless network and some testing. My end goal is to remove the Arudino from the design and just use the esp8266.
I also was able to create my own breakout board for my other esp8266-03 which has more of the pins broken out for use. I hope in the end to just use this version of the esp8266, it has a few GPIO pins I can use and from what I have been reading I think I could use 1-wire and others protocols on it to get the info I need from my sensors.
This was attempt at a breadboard one, this one was not so lucky.
