While I was driving home on a rainy night, I passed a golf course where all the sprinklers were on. That gave me the idea for a lawn sprinkler system that could sense the current weather conditions and adjust its watering schedule based on predictions of future weather conditions. More details to come!

I can feel some benefits of this over using a humidity sensor in soil. Still seems like an indirect approach.
