I've been adding a variety of ZWave switches to my house, which I control through OpenHab.
My wife, however, has been less than receptive of the project. She finds the switches require too much pressure to activate (and I've tried 4 different brands at this point). She's also averse to using the OpenHab interface to switch the lights on/off from her PC or our HTPC. She doesn't use her iPad, and doesn't have or want a smartphone, so those options are out.
Eventually, I gave up trying to predict what she wanted and just asked what would make the system work for her.
What she wants is a small remote control that she can stick on the wall a few places. It'll only need a few buttons ... one to toggle the state of all the first floor lights, one to toggle the outdoor lights, and one to toggle the basement lights.
The remote must also indicate if basement lights are on, but she hates LED's.
Also, she hates buttons I'll have to use touch sensors.
good luck buddy! Looking forward to what you come up with
