Hello all,
I am still looking for some people who would like to actively help with this project. I have since purchased a cheap brother embroidery machine and every time I use it I think about an open source option.
I have the tool to fabricate parts and test, but I dont have the time to do the design work.

I found this link looking for embroidery software for Linux (thinking of dumping Windows). Since I am totally annoyed by machine companies who transferred their manufacturing to 3rd world countries where labor is cheaper, and yet they keep increasing the prices (greed?), I would like to help you as much as I can. I have some embroidery machine repair manuals, and also a repair video for a machine that formerly was top-of-the-line a few years back. The video may help with understanding how the needle bar works. If any of this material will help, let me know and I will send you the files. Even if they won't help, good luck to you.
