I was inspired by a build I saw on RCGroups.com by JasonF who did a really awesome small bi-copter build. Bi-copters, as the name implies, have only 2 motors, which are mounted to servos for control. The servos provide the yaw and pitch control, and the motors do roll. This layout can be very tricky to tune, but provided for a much more elegant integration into the Slave I.

Body was vac formed over a Slave I toy from ToysRUs, using 0.02inch polycarbonate, then airbrushed with Tamiya acrylic paint. I did two separate forms, one with the assembled vehigle to get the long cockpit section, then a second with just the backplate. This made painting easier, and allowed me to capture the detail under the large undercut created by the lower part of the cockpit section. The frame is made out of 10mm square carbon tubes, and the servos are simply ziptied in place.

Hey Adam,

Such an awesome project! I’ve seen the videos and other posts talking about the slave 1. You’ve inspired me to get into making a multi rotor. As a total starter, the Bicopter def has been a big jump. I took an old mode kit of a slave 1 and have been trying to do something super similar. I got the same FC (the mwc flip 1.5), and after downloading old versions of arduino and running into MAC issues with firmware and software, I’ve hit a wall with the coding and getting the motors and servos responding to the FC properly. Is there any chance that you have the sketch for this 6-7 years later? If not, no worries. Would appreciate any help.
